Forest school leadership training Info

 

Forest school Trining:

The training runs over 9 days and includes and at least 110 hours of self-study over approximately 9 months.

 

During the training you will learn :

  • Learning and development at Forest School

  • Practical skills for Forest School

  • Woodland environment at Forest School

  • Planning a Forest School programme

  • woodland skills

  • nature activities

  • knot tying

  • policies and procedures

  • the principles and history of forest school

During the self-study period you will:

 

• plan and deliver a six week Forest School programme with a group of children that includes practical activities based on reflective assessment
• complete practical workbooks supporting the delivery and development of Forest School
• create other materials demonstrating your understanding of both learning theory and woodland environments

This course is appropriate for anyone 21 or over with at least Level 2 in youth work, childcare or teaching or at least 2 years’ experience working with children.

You will need to have garda vetting and to hold or acquire a 16 hour outdoor paediatric first aid certificate. (this is not included in the course price)

 

Remote first Aid:

As part of the qualification and before you start your pilot you mush have an outdate wilderness or remote first Aid, we can give you info on this during the training.
 

Qualification:

Upon completion of the course you will receive a 3rd level qualification by the Open College Network, which is internationally recognized and is equivalent to a FETAC 5.

The training will be given by Huathe,  Forest  School trainers from England.
